PCD Tooling

Nixon Industrial Diamonds produce PCD tooling in a number of grades to suit a wide variety of applications. Although the behaviour of PCD in use depends largely on the application and the machining conditions, it can also be influenced considerably by the selection of the appropriate grade, or grain size.

The N.I.D. standard grades are D002, D010 and D025 (2,10 and 25 micron grain size). In general the coarser the grade the greater the wear resistance, while the finer grades enable better cutting edge quality to be achieved. The range also includes D002C, a modified fine grade for woodworking applications, and D025H, a modified coarse grade with increased wear resistance for aggressive applications such as machining MMC materials.

As well as making specialist tooling to order, such as end mills, slot drills, ball end cutters, combination cutters and wear parts, N.I.D. also manufacture a wide range of standard ISO inserts.
